Pixar Animation Studios
Garrett Taylor joined Pixar Animation Studios as a set design intern on “Cars 2” in 2010 and was soon hired to do design wok on several Toons and TV specials, including the Toy Story Toon “Partysaurus Rex,” the Cars Toon “The Radiator Springs 500 ½” (for which Taylor also did graphic design) “Toy Story of TERROR!” and “Toy Story that Time Forgot” (on which he contributed to the graphics and character design). From there, Taylor contributed to the set design of “The Good Dinosaur” and set, graphics and character design for “Cars 3.” Taylor’s current project is doing set and vehicle design work for “Incredibles 2.”
In his role, Taylor conceptualizes and designs set elements using everything from pen and paper and clay to Photoshop. His designs are then handed off to be built digitally in the computer.
Taylor was born in Eureka, California, and as an undergrad attended College of the Redwoods and Humboldt State University. He completed grad school at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Prior to working at Pixar, Taylor was a carpenter, building houses and remodeling kitchens and bathrooms, and also an art teacher at Humboldt State University.
He currently resides in Concord, California with his wife and six children.
