Digital Matte Painter
Pixar Animation Studios
Ernesto Nemesio, a native of Riverside, California, was hired at Pixar Animation Studios in July 2002 to work as a digial matte painter on Brad Bird’s Academy Award® winning feature “The Incredibles.” Nemesio has contributed to “Cars,” “Ratatouille,” “Up,” “Brave,” “Monsters University” and “Inside Out,” helping to study the colors and determine the palette for the films. He is currently working on Disney•Pixar’s upcoming feature film “Coco.” scheduled for release on November 22, 2017.
As a child, Nemesio loved to draw and found he had a natural affinity for it. It was when he arrived at high school that he realized, through an art teacher, that he could turn his hobby into a career. That same teacher encouraged Nemesio to enroll in an Animation ROP program that allowed him to be exposed to the animation industry and other like-minded artists. There he became familiar with several Disney artists who conducted presentations at the school.
Encouraged by his experience at Animation ROP, Nemesio applied to various art schools and was accepted at the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. He focused his studies on traditional painting within the illustration matrix and soon built a sizable portfolio of paintings. Upon graduation he was hired at Pixar and now draws his inspiration from renowned impressionist painters such a Sorolla, Joseph Decamp and Edmund Tarbell.
Nemesio currently resides in Berkeley, California.
